PROBLEM SOLVING

R1,650.00

Brief Description

Problem-solving is the act of defining a problem, determining the cause of the problem, identifying, prioritizing, and selecting alternatives for a solution, and implementing a solution.

  • Is the lack of effective problem-solving skills having a negative effect on your company?
  • Do you often feel your employees are spending most of their time “fire-fighting” instead of effectively resolving issues?
  • Are poor problem-solving skills having a devastating impact on your company?

Business environments are full of processes that are not operating in the way they should.

Problem-solving is important as it gives control over our environment.

If employees are spending time and energy simply responding to situations, then they are not able to spend that time with proactive thinking, which can improve your business.

Welcome to this course on Innovative Problem Solving

Where you will learn methods and techniques to enable your business to progress and increase productivity through proactive thinking

Module 1 – What is Problem Solving?

A problem is a deviation from acceptable performance.

Some of these problems are obviously more severe or complex than others but everyone can benefit from having good problem-solving skills

Module 2 – What Resources Will be Needed?

People, practicalities, and processes are vital resources needed to become effective, innovative, and creative with problem-solving

Module 3 – Solution Tools

Problem-solving consists of using generic or ad-hoc methods in an orderly manner to find solutions to problems. Here you will learn how to use a number of these solution tools effectively

Module 4 – Benchmarking and Solution Killers

Benchmarking is the practice of comparing processes and performance metrics to industry best practices to enable us to design a quality and proven solution. A list of solution killers is also looked at, all of which must be identified and avoided.

Module 5 – Root Cause Analysis Part A

  1. Root cause analysis (RCA) is a systematic process for identifying “root causes” of problems or events and an approach for responding to them. This course will work through the first two elements of RCA, being ‘Define and Measure’ and ‘Cause and Effect’

Module 6 – Root Cause Analysis Part B

Effective management requires more than merely “putting out fires” for problems that develop, but finding a way to prevent them.

If we desire success in our facility, then we need to introduce the final 3 elements of RCA, being Effective Solutions, Corrective Actions, and progress to a system of Continual Improvement
