The objective, as this chart shows, is to get the green arrow to move from the 20% Preventive (Proactive) point on the left to the 80% Preventive (Proactive) point on the right side. To move the company from a breakdown (Reactive) focused environment to a planned or preventive environment (Proactive) over a period of time.
A well-implemented proven Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) will facilitate the process as the work focus is placed on the Preventive (Proactive) system, forcing the Breakdowns (Reactive) to be reduced.
The goal is to achieve a world-class maintenance norm.

I am not necessarily suggesting that you are operating a 20% Preventive or Proactive point. (Note the green arrow). You may be registering at a higher point than that but regardless of where you fit on the scale, the goal is still to achieve that world-class norm of 80% Preventive work orders processed.
